Workplace violence in health care affects everyone. The federal government needs additional tools to fight it.
In 2021, 77% of emergency department staff were exposed to workplace violence.
In the Fall of 2022, 41% of hospital RNs reported increased violence over the previous year.
Emergency nurses are victims of a violent attack once every two months.
33% of emergency nurses have considered leaving the profession entirely.
The Save Healthcare Workers Act, H.R. 3178/ S. 1600, provides new tools to federal prosecutors to address violence against our nation’s health care workers. This bipartisan bill would make it a federal crime to assault hospital personnel and provide for even harsher penalties if the assault occurs during a public emergency.
ENA needs your help to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of workplace violence with Members of Congress.
